Carlos Fuente recognized an area near Santiago that looked very similar to the valley of Pinar del Rio, the valley that made Cuban cigars a legend. It was here that Carlos Fuente came up with the idea of growing tobacco. not just any tobacco, but cape tobacco.

The whole industry took him for a fool, saying that if there was a way to grow cape in Santo Domingo, it would be a big deal. Persistent in his idea, he succeeded in his gamble. Château Fuente tobacco is absolutely unique with a personality that has nothing to envy any of the world's finest tobaccos. A unique power and aromatic richness.

These cigars are not only innovative in their tobacco, their manufacture is also quite unique. Most cigars have five tobacco leaves (wrapper, binder and three filler leaves), but Opus X cigars sometimes have up to nine. Each vitola is composed like a book, with its own introduction and chapters.
