The Arturo Fuente brand was founded in Florida in 1912 by a 24-year-old Cuban immigrant. By 1924, Arturo Fuente had 500 employees, focused on rolling tobacco exclusively from Cuba. A fire destroyed the entire factory. This tragedy put the company out of business for 22 years.

Carlos Fuente mortgaged his house and reinvested in a factory in the Dominican Republic.
