Ramon Allones cigars
The history of Ramon Allones cigars
Ramón Allones was the first Habanos manufacturer to arrange bundles (cabinets) of cigars in boxes, which he took care to decorate with the brand emblem. This label is called la vista. A bundle must have 3 levels: the bottom level is made up of 8 vitolas, the second level contains 9 vitolas and the top level is made up of 8 vitolas. In all, one box contains 25 cigars. It's worth noting that it was also at this time that Gustavo Bock created the ring, a strip of paper that surrounds the vitola just before its head. The effect of the bundle of 25 cigars, each with a ring, resting in a wooden box decorated with the vista, is impressive. The process was later adopted by other brands, and eventually democratized.
Influence and legacy
Ramón Allones developed this cigar box system primarily for practical reasons. He wanted to ship his puros to distant destinations without damaging them. But Ramón Allones' contribution to the development of the cigar industry was not limited to boxes. Smokers have made many of Ramón Allones cigars' specific characteristics the criteria for an excellent Habano.
The 20th century
The brand changed hands in 1927. From that year onwards, Ramón Allones cigars were made in the same factory as Partagas cigars. The brand never moved again. The brand's future was threatened by the advent of the Cuban revolution in the middle of the 20th century. In the end, however, the threat was only temporary, and production of high-end cigars resumed in earnest. At the end of the 20th century, Ramón Allones became the property of the state-owned Habanos SA.
Features
All cigars from the Ramón Allones factory contain a blend of tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region. They release intense, complex flavors. The brand's creations are long-filler cigars made entirely by hand. The catalog features 4 modules: Allones Superiores (caliber 46), Ramón Allones Gigantes (double corona - caliber 49), Ramón Allones Small Club Corona (small corona - caliber 40), Ramon Allones Special Selection (Robusto - caliber 50).
Ramón Allones cigars are the result of almost 2 centuries of expertise. They are proof that traditional processes produce results that border on perfection. No wonder experienced smokers rank them among the best Habanos.
