Isn't it surprising to see a Padrón cigar in the top five of Cigar Aficionado's Top 25?
The company's cigars have been named Cigar of the Year three times is a record, and they've always been in the upper echelons of the list. Padróns are filled with aged Nicaraguan tobaccos, full of flavor, aroma and resonance.
Take, for example, Ce Padron Family Reserve 44 Years Maduro, the first in the Family Reserve cigar series. When it was created in 2007, it was only available at certain Padrón events where a family member was present (hence the brand name). There was obviously something special about the cigar. Eventually, the Padróns decided to market the blend, but in very limited quantities and at a rather high retail price. The number 44 represents the company's 44th anniversary, celebrated in 2008.
Padrón cigars generally have some taste qualities, such as chocolate, coffee and nuts. The Padron Family Reserve 44 Years is no different. Its streamlined torpedo head concentrates and magnifies these aromas, which are both dynamic and refined, yet rich without being too heavy or overpowering. Quality cigars are the hallmark of this family cigar company, as is consistency. Chances are, the first cigar you light from a box of Padrón - any box - will be as fantastic as the last.
