Oliva is one of the great names in exceptional cigars in the United States. For generations, the Oliva family has been at the forefront of Nicaragua's handcrafted Puros parfaits. The Oliva family originated in Cuba, where they ran high-yield tobacco plantations. The fields were in San Juan, right next to those of Hoyo de Monterrey. The revolution of the 1960s put an abrupt end to their own tobacco plantations and drove the third generation into exile. But not without detours. The relatively short journey to Estelí, Nicaragua, where the Olivas are now one of the world's largest tobacco plantations, eventually led to the other side of the world. Oliva cigars are characterized by the fact that almost 100% of their tobacco comes from their own fields.
