Press release:
To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Cohiba, probably the world's most iconic cigar brand, Habanos SA is launching a special production run of 500 numbered humidors.
Cohiba was created in 1966 and is probably the most renowned tobacco product on the planet. This distinction was earned, among other reasons, by being a gift from Cuban leaders to other world leaders here and abroad.
The unrivalled quality possessed by these Habanos, together with the fact that they were Fidel Castro's preferred brand, helped create the conditions for introducing this brand to society at the Ritz Hotel in Madrid in 1982. This brought the myth of this cigar to the discerning cigar world.
Cohiba, whose name is the first name the natives gave to cigars, has become an example of how to maintain the tradition of Cuban cigar-making know-how with the modernity of being an avant-garde brand. It maintains exquisite care in the selection of its tobacco, as well as the elaboration process in the "El Laguito" factory.
