Whether whisky, gin, vodka, rum, bourbon or brandy, the Langatun distillery offers them all. The modern Langenthal facility, built in 1616, is now operating at full capacity. Langatun is one of many national companies that have been writing a brand new success story since the turn of the millennium.
For three generations, the distillation of grain brandy was forbidden. The reason for this decision was concern for the common good, since in the late 19th century, farmers preferred to convert their fields into cheap alcohol rather than harvest the grain for food. Today, however, there is no longer any risk in this respect, and Langatun is clearly benefiting from it. This edition was bottled after six years of maturation, on the occasion of the first Avo Jazz session, which took place in November 2015 in the «Whisky House» (Langatuns Kornhaus). This is not only the distillery's headquarters, but also a venue for events.
For the guests of the jazz session, not only music and whisky were offered, but also matching cigars. Single Malt is a combination of three types of cask (Chardonnay, sherry and Châteauneuf-du-Pape). The taste is characterized by notes of caramel, sherry, raisin, mocha and a hint of milk chocolate.
The bottle comes in a Langatun wooden box.
